and thus it begins...

Pack yer Bags, Call Your Cousins. The Darcys are headed out for an autumn tour. Over the course of the week of October 9th, the Darcys will be visiting a handful of Canadian Universities, playing on Borrowed Gear, Seeing Old Friends, drinking bitter highway coffee, Learning how to navigate through the vast green spaces of Ontario and generally getting our feet wet in that great rite of passage: the Canadian Rock Tour. So call anyone you know in the cities we are headed to if you think they might enjoy a night on the town, soundtracked by sounds of a band just barely keepin' it together (sorry, I mean we play indie rock [sorry, what I actually mean is if you read this you probably already know what we sound like... Does Anyone actually read this? who isn't in the band]...)

Wednesday October 11th - The Embassy - London 10pm $5
Thursday October 12th - Smijie's - Kingston 10pm $5
(W/ Keston)
Friday October 13th - The Albion Hotel - Guelph 10 PM $5
(W/ The Evil Doers)
Saturday October 14th - Neu+ral - Toronto 10 PM $5 (As Part of Eat Your Greens)
Monday October 16th - H.M.C.S. Wardroom - Halifax 10 PM Free

Well, we're doin' it. You can't say we aren't doin it.
Hearts,
The Darcys

These people just don't know good music.

CIUT'S Music Charts are your weekly roll call of the most recent and popular new releases receiving airplay at 89.5 CIUT, Toronto. Their Charts are posted every Monday and are always changing as new and interesting music keeps pouring in to the Music Department.
The Top 30 of September 12, and the follwoing week of the 19 seemed to place The Darcys at # 5 - Currently we are holding strong at # 17
Just to be put on a list with The Dears, The Hidden Cameras, Amy Millan and Emily Haines is terrifying. However we must thank CIUT for being gracious enough to give us some air time. It means the world to a small band like ours.

Call it An Emergency (The Darcys / Grad House / 9PM)

We. Us. Who? The Darcys are playing this Friday at the Grad House. Adam Shier (formerly of Moksha, currently without beard) will be opening the show with an acoustic set at 9pm with The Darcys soon to follow. Yes, the show will costs 5 dollars, but no The Darcys will not be taking your money to spend on new ties, delay pedals or bribing Grant Lawrence. The gig is to promote awareness and to raise money for HIV/AIDS Education in Tanzania. Rest assured your hard earned (or parentally provided) drinking money will be going to a worthy and respectable cause.

So get out your hats and hooters, lay down your motor scooters and bring your sexually protected ass to the Grad House this Friday at 9pm.

What, there is more?
Just in case you were busy making out with 18 year olds or too drunk to remember being there, We put up some pictures from our Frosh Week Show.

A Good Canadian Name, Eh?

"Next week, We will salute the shortlist of nominees for the Polaris Music Prize... and here is a band that could easily be shortlisted for a future Polaris prize. They consider their sound akin to Smog fronting Steely Dan. From Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is the Darcys. Good Canadian Name eh?" - Grant Lawrence

So we're on the CBC Radio Three podcast for this week. Who Knew? We're as suprised as you. Go and check it out through the podcast section of the itunes store or through cbcradio3.com. Be sure, while you are there, to check out the vast backlog of Independent Canadian Music that the podcast offers up weekly, that we are currently working our way through as we stroll around King's.

Who Knew?

À bientôt, See you soon.
